4/1.. Syracuse, New York.. Captains Mike Corblies and Al Zalata were in upstate New York for the BIG EAST SPORTSMEN'S SHOW at the TURNING STONE RESORT and CASINO near Vernon.. Al and Mike performed fly casting demos and gave seminars at the Show on all 3 days.. The first day of the Show brought inquiries from a couple of local guides on A.F.F.S. membership that we will be looking into...
3/21..Capt. Mike was in Georgia working with graphics designers for our new little "Poetry Out House Trailer" WHAT THE HECK is it???.. You will just have to wait and see it to believe it.. I think you will all get a good laugh or two out of it...
4/14/10..A.F.F.S. Director Mike Corblies spoke to the members of the Fred S. Burroghs Chapter of Trout Unlimited on April 21st at 7:30 pm at Camp Jefferson, in Sparta, New Jersey.. The talk was about fly fishing destinations available with American Fly Fishing Schools members and particulary about saltwater locations that offer kayak trips. At the seminar T.U.auctioned off a flats boat trip for 2 anglers to fish with Captain Mike for Stripers, Blues and Weakfish on Barnegat Bay.. Casting Pond set up right outside the entrance to the Show and we also had a booth indoors to demonstrate fly tying, wood carving, hand out brochures, show videos of A.F.F.S. member locations and sell some fly fishing products. . We enjoyed meeting all of you that stopped by our seminars or for a casting lesson and we look forward to visiting the Florida "Pan Handle" region again real soon". 2/10/10.. A.F.F.S. Director Mike Corblies is pleased to announce another new member to our growing list of Guides and Instructors.. Mr. Paul Healy operates a guide service based in Jim Thorpe, PA. Paul has been guiding clients for a number of years in the Pocono Mountains for trout, smallmouth bass and other species.. Paul also has developed a good client base at the Jersey Shore the past few seasons conducting surf fishing trips for Stripers, Bluefish and Albies on the fly.. Paul has family that lives in the Toms River area where he hangs his hat when he is guiding saltwater species along the beaches.. Paul will be joining the Pro Staff at Captain Mike's Fly Shop in Island Heights, New Jersey this year and will be taking clients on beach trips and back bay kayaking charters from the Shop starting this Spring.. 2/8/10..Fort Myers, FL...A.F.F.S. exhibited at the FLORIDA SPORTSMEN'S SHOW at the Lee County Civic Center in Fort Myers.. Captain Mike and Jack Montague were featured fly casting instructors and also presented seminars at the A.F.F.S./REGAL VISE TYING THEATRE.. The Show was packed and our seminars and exhibit area was really "cooking" with enthusiasm for fly fishing in S.W. Florida.. Lots of folks stopped by to talk fly fishing with us and to "test tie" some flies on Regal's great new vises...
1/30.. Charlotte, N.C .. Mike Corblies and Jack Montague had a A.F.F.S. booth at the annual Charlotte, North Carolina FLY FISHING SHOW.. The weather was bad but attendance was OK (all things considered).. We signed up a new member Lodge in Alaska located on Prince of Whales Island called FISH TALES LODGE.. Welcome aboard to our first A.F.F.S. Alaska member.. 1/25/10..We had a great time at the big FLY FISHING SHOW in Somerset, N.J.. The A.F.F.S. booth was very busy set up near the casting pond.. We are featuring a NEW promotion at the Shows this season with two of our sponsors products..
